For better or worse, I have often cut my own hair. These days I tend to visit a salon just once a year. I’d like to study hairdressing in earnest so I can cut my children’s hair well, but in the meantime I just needed a good comb to help me cut my own. I wanted to avoid plastic, so I was absolutely thrilled when I found the hard rubber comb.
Combs from the New York-Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie. Since 1880, the New York-Hamburg has had an uncontested technological lead in the production of top-quality hairdressing combs made of ebonite, a hard rubber compound on a caoutchouc basis with features very similar to those of buffalo horn. The teeth of the comb are sawn, rounded and then polished with specially developed diamond cutters. A double-cone tooth with an even surface is produced, which gently runs along hair shafts without damaging them – hairdressers all over the world swear by this comb.
Works for me.
